The Graduate Research Forum features poster displays representing UCF’s current graduate students from a diverse array of colleges and disciplines.

The Research Forum is an opportunity for current graduate students to showcase their research and creative projects and to receive valuable feedback from faculty judges. Awards for best poster in each category are given and all participants receive recognition.

The 8th Annual Graduate Research Forum is an opportunity for graduate students in all disciplines to showcase their research in a setting similar to a national conference.

Submissions for the poster session may be either a literature review or original research.

To promote broad participation in the Graduate Research Forum, an individual may only appear as primary author on one proposal. However, additional co-authorships will be permitted.

The submission should be the original work of the author(s). If the presented paper is a result of a collaborative student-faculty project, it is expected that the majority of the research to be presented was completed by the graduate student.

Proposals must be received by the stated deadline, February 14, 2011. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Applicants will be accepted on the basis of the content submitted by the deadline date. Notification of acceptance will be sent via e-mail.

For more information, contact researchweek@mail.ucf.edu or Pam Hanson-Phillips, at 407-823-2736.

Undergraduates from all disciplines are encouraged to present current or recently completed academic projects showcasing the diversity of topics, approaches, and interests at UCF. The Showcase serves as a resource for undergraduates not yet engaged in research and creative pursuits to learn how fellow students have developed their intellectual interests, current projects, and faculty connections. The Showcase also demonstrates to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the greater Central Florida community that student research builds upon and enriches the UCF undergraduate experience.

The University of Central Florida provides one of the nation’s best values in education, according to a Kiplinger’s report published today.

UCF now ranks 33rd, advancing three spots from its 2010 position on the magazine’s annual 100-school list of best-value U.S. public colleges and universities. UCF has advanced 12 spots in just two years.

The ranking, which combines excellent economic value with an outstanding education, comes as good news to students and their families as they cope with a sluggish economy.

Kiplinger’s develops its college rankings using measures of academic quality -– such as SAT or ACT scores and graduation rates -– and an affordable price tag, including tuition and financial aid.

UCF continues to receive noteworthy national rankings. U.S. News & World Report ranked UCF seventh in its “Top Up-and-Coming Schools” list, which lauds institutions for their success and innovation in academics, faculty, student life, campus and facilities. No other Florida university made the top 10.

In addition, U.S. News & World Report’s Best Graduate Schools guide ranked five UCF programs among the nation’s best in their fields. Engineering, Education, Speech-Language Pathology, Public Administration and Computer Science all made the top 100. UCF’s engineering programs led the way and ranked #2 in Florida.
