Sociology
We are pleased to announce a new lecture series. The College of Sciences Distinguished Speaker Series has been established to bring high-profile guest speakers to enrich the academic experience of members of the university and the local community. Speakers will address topics relevant to the natural, computational, social, or behavioral sciences, or to the societal implication of developments in these fields. Seminars are free and open to the public. Please visit http://dss.cos.ucf.edu periodically for the announcement of upcoming seminars.
Instructions:
Departments may propose potential distinguished speakers by email to Michael Johnson (mjohnson@mail.ucf.edu). Please explain the topic, the speaker's credentials and distinction, and why the talk could be of general interest. Include the title of the series, a short abstract, the time and place the event is to be held, and a short biography about the speaker.
The college will provide $1,000 for each speaker to help defray the expenses (both travel and stipend), for up to 5 speakers per academic year using overhead funds. A given department may have no more than one speaker in this series in a given academic year.
